Pandaw Cyclone Appeal Burma

Pandaw Cruises have been active in Burma since 1995 and have the logistical team in situ to operate our river ships to assist in the cyclone relief effort.

Old Pandaw passengers together with many friends and well wishers have rallied and raised over $500,000 towards our relief efforts. These are:

1) Converting our cruise ships to hospital ships and handing them over to medical charities operating in the Delta

2) Sending supply trucks to refugee camps with vital food, clothing and other kit.

3) Sending construction teams with materials to repair roofs in refugee centres, schools and other locations to provide basic community shelter.

4) Handing out Pandaw Family Boxes with essential start up kit and food from our ships.

5) Purchasing a motorised barge to convert into an additional floating clinic to be deployed to the Delta.

The Pandaw team are all working pro bono on this project and there are NO administrative costs at all. We are absorbing these within our usual company operating expenses.

We have a great team on the ground, expert in the logistics of Burma’s inland waters, and they are all totally enthusiastic about this mission. We move fast – no meetings or discussion – just real action.

Meanwhile Pandaw's school building programme up country will continue despite this disaster. Two new schools have been announced for the Thiri Island near Pagan.
