Pandaw passengers have been actively involved in a variety of community, humanitarian and cultural projects since we bagan in 1995. Some of the countries we work in are amongst the poorest in the world and our passengers want to give something in return for the wonderful travel experiences these places offer.
We have a number of ongoing projects like our school construction programme in Burma or the support of orphanages in Cambodia. We are also ready to move fast in the event disaster strikes, as our teams did in Burma after the May 2008 Cyclone Nargis hit the Delta area. Our Pandaw Floating Clinic continus to operate in this devastated area thanks to the support of our old passengers, known as 'Old Pandaw Hands'.
As a company we offer a portion of our annual profits to these projects in addition to the many donations we receive from our passengers. A number of our travel agent clients have made substantial donations to enable entire schools to be built.
Passengers can donate after visiting these projects on board whilst on a Pandaw cruise or they may donate after returning home. Some of our 'Old Pandaw Hands' organise fund raising events back home, or undertake sponsored events to raise money for these projects.
We have a very easy online facility to enable people to donate with a credit card. At present for Nargis we show realtime income and expenditure clearly on a public access file and we will soon extend this to include other projects.
Note that the Pandaw Charity is not a registered charity in any country so you will not get tax benefits of making donations to us. Donations pass through the company credit card clearing system but are coded so as to go to the right projects.
All Pandaw team member time and company resources applied to these projects are on a strictly pro bono basis and we deduct zero administration costs. Your money gets there.
