Indian Ocean Paradise

Flying just 40 minutes from Yangon to Thandwe (formerly Sandoway) one reaches the unspolt tropical beaches of Myanmar's gorgeous Indian Ocean coastline. Development here is in its infancy and there is still a lost, faraway feel to the place. Pure white sand beaches and very clear water makes this a perfect place to escape to. The Ngapali Bay (so named after it was discovered by Italian missionaries who cried 'bella Napoli' or words to that effect) is sheltered, so big waves are unknown. The seafood here is amazing!

We offer a package from Yangon with out partner resort the Amata. This includes flights and you can book as many nights as you wish. We suggest you book bed and breakfast only as there are a great choice of beach side seafood restaurants in addition to the hotel restaurant which is very good.

The Amata, Myanmar's most exclusive beach resort hotel, stretches along the beautiful shoreline of Ngapali , Myanmar 's premier beach. The resort covers more than five acres of tropical wonderland and guests are luxuriously accommodated in seventy teak, bamboo, cane and rattan cabanas, bungalows and suites. The resort is flanked by a 400 metre seaside boardwalk.

Most cabanas and bungalows are secluded, and privacy is provided by thickets of lush Asian foliage. Soak tubs, interior bathrooms and an added 'au naturel' outdoors shower, again protected by the privacy of lush green growth, add a sensuous touch to the Amata experience.

The resort was designed by the state-of-the-art New York architectural firm, Spine, with a brief to capture the languid beauty of a traditionally Asian setting. Located near the delightful Mya Pyin village at Ngapali Beach. The nearest airport is at Thandwe, a enjoyable 15 minute drive from the resort (hotel).

There’s plenty to do in the surrounding district including fishing, boating and sun baking in the Bay of Bengal, or a visit to Thandwe for shopping or to simply observe the colourful life and customs of the local Rakhine people. Golfers may enjoy a lush 9-hole golf course that's only ten minutes drive from the resort (hotel).
