Daily Itinerary

    Day 1

    Vientiane - Phonsavanh

    We will pick you up 09.00am after disembarkation from you Pandaw vessel. Drive to visit the surroundings of Vientiane including the Buddha Park, located 24 km south of Vientiane, and take a look at the impressive Friendship Bridge. Continue to visit the National museum which is highlighting the revolution of the 1970s and is located in a French colonial building. Afternoon visit to Cope Visitor Center: After the war ended in 1975, the country is still littered with a significant amount of UXO's (unexploded ordnance). COPE stands for Cooperative Orthotic and Prosthetic Enterprise and provides prosthetics and mobility devices for those people who require them, free of charge if they cannot afford to pay for them. An interactive exhibit about the UXO problem tells how UXO affects communities, with stories of injured people and their experiences through their rehabilitation process.

    Day 2

    Vientiane

    Morning at leisure. Afternoon transfer to airport and fly to Xieng Khoang (15.00pm), the gateway to the plains of Jars.

    Day 3

    The Plain of Jars

    A full day to explore the famous Plain Of Jars, a vast area extending around Phonsavanh where over 300 huge stone jars carved out of solid rock from 1 to 3.25 meters high and weighing up to six tons each. And estimated to be 2,500 to 3,000 years old. According to local legend, King Khun Chuang had them constructed in order to store wine for the celebration of his conquest of the province in the 6th century. We visit Site I, II and III. Continue to Ban Na Pia (War Spoon Village) before returning to Phonsavanh.

    Day 4

    Muang Khoun - Vientiane

    Morning visit to scenic Muang Khoun, surrounded by mountains, the ancient capital that was founded by Chao Noi Muang and was a stronghold for the Xieng Khouang royal family was destroyed during the Indochina War. The town was rebuilt after 1975 with rows of wooden Lao houses and a market area. We also visit the ruins at Wat Phia Wat, That Foun and That Chomphet.

    Transfer to Phonsavanh airport for flight to Vientiane followed by transfer to your hotel.

    Day 5

    Vientiane

    After breakfast, transfer the airport.

    Meals: Breakfast at hotel.
