The journey from Phnom Penh is approximately 155 km and takes around 3 hours. Arrive in Kep around lunchtime, check into your resort, and enjoy the afternoon at your leisure. Make sure you don’t miss out on the popular “crab market”, a seaside strip of local restaurants, for some crabs with Kampot pepper (please note that meals here are at your own expense).
Overnight: Kep
Day 2
Meet your guide in the hotel lobby at 08:30. Drive through the countryside to La Plantation pepper farm (the drive is approximately 17 km and takes about 36 minutes). Upon arrival, enjoy an informative presentation to learn about the different types of Kampot pepper, tasting the various forms grown on the farm. Next, learn to cook traditional Khmer dishes prepared exclusively with La Plantation spices. You will then lunch on the dishes that have been prepared, along with a selection of seasonal fresh juices, homemade iced teas, or other refreshments. (Please note this cooking class is a joined class).
In the afternoon, take a scenic drive to Phnom Chhngok Cave. Along the way, make a quick stop at the Secret Lake, a beautiful spot with stunning mountain views. Phnom Chhngok is home to an ancient Funan temple dating back to the 6th or 7th century. Return to the hotel.
Overnight: Kep
Day 3
Meet your guide in the hotel lobby at 08:30. Visit the Trapeang Sangkae Community. Trapeang Sangkae Eco-tourism was created by the villagers to promote mangrove reforestation and income generation. Help conserve the environment by learning the importance of mangrove forests and getting hands-on by planting some of your own mangrove trees, which are essential for the health and biodiversity of the coastal province. After planting, enjoy a boat cruise along the river to take a closer look at the mangrove trees.
In the afternoon, head to Kampot (a 20 km journey taking around 30 minutes) and explore this charming riverside town where weathered French colonial architecture meets a laid-back contemporary vibe. Depending on the season, you may also visit the salt fields.
Overnight: Kep
