DESTINATION INFORMATION

KANCHANABURI

It was in 1942, when Kanchanaburi was under Japanese control, that Allied POWs and Asian labourers were forced to construct the infamous Burma Railway including the Bridge over the River Kwai. Almost half of the prisoners working on the project died and at Kanchanaburi, there is a memorial and two museums to commemorate the dead as well as the Thailand-Burma Railway Museum and the JEATH War Museum where one can fully appreciate the suffering and sacrifice of those brave men all those years ago.
